The Diptyque brand takes its symbolism from its own definition. The term "diptych" comes from the art world. It refers to two panels that respond to each other, forming part of a homogeneous whole and complementing each other to become one. Interior designer Christiane Montadre-Gautrot joins forces with Desmond Knox-Leet, a painter and draughtsman by trade. Yves Coueslant, from the world of theater, joined the duo to form the winning trio. This friendship first gave rise to a successful furnishings business.
